Section 8: Sanctioning of scheme by the Government

(1) The Government may, after considering the objections and suggestions, if any, and making such inquiry as it thinks fit, sanction the scheme with or without modifications, or may refuse to sanction the scheme or return the scheme to the Board for consideration.
(2) The sanction of the Government to a scheme under sub-section (1) shall be published by notification in [Official Gazette] and such notification shall state at what place and time the scheme will be open to inspection of the public.
(3) A notification under sub-section (2) shall be conclusive evidence that the scheme has been duly made and sanctioned. The scheme shall have effect from the date of publication of such notification, and the execution of the scheme shall be commenced forthwith :
Provided that, where the scheme so provides, the execution of the scheme or any part thereof may be deferred until such time as may be fixed by the Government.
