Section 55: Scheme for field drains.

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained to the contrary in sub-section (1) of section 54, the Executive Engineer may cause a scheme for field drains to be drawn up.

(2) Every scheme drawn up under sub-section (1), amongst other matters, shall set out the estimated cost thereof, the alignment of the proposed field drain or realignment of the existing field drain, as the case may be, the particulars of the owners or occupiers to be benefited, the particulars of persons who may be affected thereby and sketch plan of the area proposed to be covered by the scheme.

(3) The provisions contained in sections 33, 34 and 36 to 38 shall apply mutatis mutandis to the scheme drawn up for field drains.

(4) The Executive Engineer may construct the field drains on behalf of the owners or occupiers and recover the cost pro rata from such owners or occupiers.
