Section 57: Regulation of water supply from irrigation works.

An Assistant Executive Engineer may, after such inquiry as he deems fit, regulate in respect of any irrigation work for each year or part thereof or for a specified term of years at a time, as circumstances may require, the––

(a) time for letting out water for irrigation ;

(b) period of supply ;

(c) quantity of supply ; and

(d) areas to be supplied at different times.

Explanation:–– A land shall be deemed to have been supplied with water notwithstanding that the water is not utilised for irrigation provided that such non utilisation is solely due to the action or inaction on the part of the owners or occupiers interested in such land.
