Section 196: Use of protective head gear

The Jharkhand Motor Vehicles Rules, 2001State Rules of Jharkhand · 1988

Every person driving or riding (otherwise than in a side car) on a motorcycle shall wear a protective head gear, that is, a helmet which by virtue of its shape, material and construction could be expected to afford to the person driving a motorcycle, a degree of protection from injury in the event of an accident:

Provided that the following shall operate as an exception to the provisions of Section 129, of the Act-

(i) any pillion rider.

(ii) the person driving a motorcycle fitted with an engine having capacity upto 50 cubic centimeters.
