Section 9: Withdrawal of candidature

(1) Any candidate may withdraw his candidature by a notice in writing in Form III subscribed by him and delivered before 3 o’ clock in the afternoon on the day fixed under Clause (c) of rule 4 to the Returning Officer or the authorized officer either by such candidate in person or by his proposer or seconder who has been authorized in this behalf in writing by such candidate.

(2) No person who has given a notice of withdrawal of his candidature under sub rule (1) shall be entitled to cancel the notice.

(3) On receipt of a notice of withdrawal under sub-rule (1), the Returning Officer or the authorized officer shall note thereon the date and the hour at which it was delivered.
