In Section 16 of the Principal Act, (i) in sub-section (1),-
(i) for clause (a), the following shall be substituted, namely:- "(a) an individual who needs the services of such co-operative society and is competent to enter into contract under the Contract Act, 1872(Central Act IX of 1872)"
(ii) after clause (a) as so substituted, the following shall be inserted, namely:- "(a-1) a depositor"
(iii) after clause (g), the following shall be inserted, namely:- "(h) a self-help group"
Explanation:- A self-help group is a homogeneous group of rural poor comprising of ten to twenty members, voluntarily formed to save small amounts out of their earnings and agreed upon to form a Corpus / Fund to be lent to the members of such group.
