Section 9: Penalty for obstructing Inspectors

The Karnataka Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays) Act, 1963State Act of Karnataka · Act 24 of 1963

Whoever wilfully obstructs an Inspector in the exercise of any power conferred on him by or under this Act, or fails to produce on demand in writing by an Inspector any register, record or notice in his custody which may be required to be kept in pursuance of this Act or of any rule made thereunder, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both.

1[9-A. Cognisance of offences.—(1) No Court shall take cognisance of any offence punishable under this Act or any rule made thereunder except upon a complaint made in writing by an Inspector.

(2) No court inferior to that of a magistrate of the first class shall try any offence punishable under this Act or any rule made thereunder.]1
