Section 3: Appointment of competent officers

The State Government may, by notification,-

(a) appoint,-

(i) in respect of its premises such officers, not below the rank of a 1[Group B]1 officer of the State Civil Services;

(ii) in respect of any premises of a local authority such officers of the local authority 1[x x x]1 2[or such officer not below the rank of Group "B" officer of the State Civil Services.]2

(iii) in respect of any premises of a corporate authority, such officers of the corporate authority 1[; and]1

(b) define the local limits within which or the categories of public premises in respect of which the competent officers shall exercise the powers conferred and perform the duties imposed, on competent officers by or under this Act
