Section 8: Constitution of Standing Committee

The Karnataka Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (Reservation of Appointment Etc) Act, 1990State Act of Karnataka · Act 7 of 1991

There shall be a standing committee consisting of the following members, namely:-

(a) Minister of Social Welfare, Government of Karnataka Chairman

(b) (i) Four members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly to be nominated by the Speaker out of whom, one shall be from the Scheduled Caste and one shall be from the Scheduled Tribe 1991: KAR. ACT 7] SC, ST and OBC Reservations 559 and one shall be from the Backward Classes; Members

(ii) Two members of the Karnataka Legislative Council to be nominated by the Chairman Members

(c) Chief Secretary to the Government of Member Karnataka

(d) Secretary to Government, Home Department, Government of Karnataka Member

(e) Secretary to Government, Social Welfare & Labour Department, Government of Member- Karnataka Secretary

Provided that on issue of a proclamation under Article 356 of the Constitution of India, the composition of the Committee may be altered by the State Government to such extent as it deems fit.
