Section 29: Penalties

The Kerala Buildings (Lease and Rent Control) Act 1965State Act of Kerala · Act 2 of 1965

(1) If any person contravenes any of the provisions of subsections (1), (2), (4), (5) and (6) of section 4, clause (a) of sub-section (1) and clause

(b) of sub-section (2) of section 8, sub-section (1) of section 13, sub-section (1) of section 17 and section 27, he shall be punishable with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees and in default to simple imprisonment which may extend to two weeks.

(2) If any landlord receives unconscionable rent in respect of any building he shall be punishable with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both.
