Section 22: Compensation Officer a public servant

The Jenmikaram Payment (Abolition) Act, 1960State Act of Kerala · Act 3 of 1961

(1) Compensation Officers appointed under section 21 shall be deemed to be public servants within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal Code.

(2) The Compensation Officer shall have all the powers of a civil court while trying a suit under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, in respect of the following matters:—

(a) summoning and enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath;

(b) requiring the discovery and production of any document;

(c) receiving the evidence on affidavit; and

(d) requisitioning any public record or a copy thereof from any court or office.
