Section 3: Jenmikaram to be abolished

The Jenmikaram Payment (Abolition) Act, 1960State Act of Kerala · Act 3 of 1961

(1) From and after the commencement of this Act, notwithstanding anything contained in any law or contract for the time being in force, the Jenmi shall not have the right to receive payment of Jenmikaram and the Kudiyan shall have no liability to pay any Jenmikaram to the Jenmi and the right to receive payment of, and the liability to pay, Jenmikaram shall be extinguished.

(2) Every Jenmi whose right to receive payment of Jenmikaram has been extinguished under sub-section (1), shall be entitled to receive and be paid compensation by the Government as hereinafter provided.
