Section 16: Holding Additional charge of the office of the Administrator

(1) Notwithstanding the provisions contained in sections 14 and 15, it shall be competent for the Government to appoint an officer of the Government not below the rank of Under Secretary or Deputy Collector to be in additional charge of the office of the Administrator, pending appointment of the Administrator under section 14 or when the office is temporarily vacant:

Provided that the period of such additional charge shall not exceed three months.

(2) No person shall be appointed under sub-section (1) unless he professes Hindu Religion and believes in temple worship.

(3) An Officer appointed to be in additional charge of the office of the Administrator, under sub-section (1) shall be paid such allowances as the Government may fix in this behalf.
