Not withstanding anythmg contained in sub-section (2) of section 5 of the Cochin Verumpattamdars Act, VIII of 1118, the pattam payable by a verumpattamdar, to whom the provisions of the sa1d sub-section applied, for the penod subsequent to the first day of Chingom, 1124, till the date of commencement of this Act, shall only be the amount payable immediately before the commencement of the sa1d Verumpattamdars Act, whether or not such contract was renewed after such commence.
