Section 120: Penalty for making false declaration

( 1) After the date notified uncer sub-section ( 1) of sectiOn 83, no document relating to any transfer of land shall be reg1stered unless the transferee makes a declaration in such form as may be prescribed in wnting (in duplicate) as to the total extent of land held by him. The reg1stering officer shall forward a copy of the declaration to the officer authonsed by the Government for such action as may be necessary.

(2) If any person makes any declaration before the registering officer under sub-section (I), which he knows or has reason to bel!eve to be false, he shall be pumshable with fine not exceeding one thousand rupees.
