Section 87: Excess land ob.amed by gift, etc., to be surrendered

( I) Where any pe1son comes by any land after the date notified under sub-section (I) of sect1on 83 on account of gift, purchase, mortgage with possession, lease, surrender or any other kind of transfer inter-vtvos or by bequest or mhcritance or otherwise and in consequence thereof the total extent of land owned or held by the family of such person, or by such per.on, if 56 he is an unmarried adult, exceeds the ceiling area, such excess shall be surrendered to such authonty as may be prescnbed within six months of the date of his coming into ownersh1p or possesswn.

(2) The provisions of sections 85 and 86 shall, as far as may be apply to the surrender to, and vestmg in, the Government of the owner­ ship or possess1on or both of lands under sub-section (I).
