(1) The prescribed authority may accept from any person accused of an offence under this Act a sum of money not exceeding five thousand rupees, by way of composition for such offence and may out of money so received compensate the person against whom the offence has been committed to the extent the prescribed authority deems reasonable.
(2) On the composition of offence, no further proceeding in respect thereof shall be taken against the accused and if any proceeding has already been instituted against him in any court, the composition shall have the effect of acquittal.
