The Government may, by notification and subject to such modifications, if any, as may be specified therein, extend all or any of the foregoing provisions of this Chapter or any other provision in this Act connected therewith to any local area or part of a local area in which a large number of persons attending a fair or festival held in a notified fair or festival centre halt, or are expected to halt on their way to, or return from, such centre. .
CHAPTER XIV CANAL BOATS
181. Infectious disease in canal boats—— Where any loca] authority within whose local area a canal or any part of a canal is situate, is informed that a person on board a canal boat is suffering from an infectious disease, such authority 4 121 shall cause such steps to be taken as may be necessary for preventing the said disease from spreading and for that purpose may exercise the power of removing a person suffering as aforesaid and ail other powers in relation to provisions against infection conferred by this Act and may also, if need be, detain the boat, but such boat shall not be detained for a longer time than 1s necessary for cleansing and disimfecting the same which in no case shal] exceed forty-eight hours.
