Section 31: Extension Council

The Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Act, 2010State Act of Kerala · Act 3 of 2011

(1) There shall be an Extension Council for the University and it shall consist of the following members, namely:—

(i) The Vice-Chancellor;

(ii) The Registrar;

(iii) Director of Entrepreneurship;

(iv) Head of the Department of Extension;

(v) Representative of Institute of Management in Government or such other institutions like Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode; and

(vi) Two members elected by Management Council members from amongst themselves.

(2) The powers and functions of the Extension Council shall be,—

(i) to undertake the extension activities of the University;

(ii) to re-orient teaching and revise the syllabus to give further impetus for productivity in this sector;

(iii) to ensure the services of the teachers and scientists for developing viable enterprises to increase productivity;

(iv) to integrate teaching, research and entrepreneurship activities of the University in consultation with the teachers, scientists, field department officers and farmers;

(v) to ensure the exchange experience of teaching, research and entrepreneurship by deploying the teachers to each field on rotation;

(vi) to conduct demonstrations and training programmes for the benefit of various stakeholders;

(vii) to co-ordinate entrepreneurship programmes in consultation with various units of the University and other appropriate agencies of the Centre and the State; and

(viii) to develop models of Entrepreneurship in the livestock and allied sector in the State.

(3) The term of Extension Council shall be three years or as may be prescribed by the Statutes.
