Section 7: Enrollment

(1) Before any person appointed to be an officer of the Special Armed Force joins his appointment, a declaration in the form in Schedule I shall be read out, and if he so desires, explained to him in the presence of a Zonal Officer, or a Commandant [or a Deputy Commandant] or an Assistant Commandant, or an Adjutant or a Police Officer not below the rank of an Assistant Superintendent or a Deputy Superintendent of Police and shall be signed by him, in token of having been so read out, and explained to him, and of his having undertaken to abide by the conditions prescribed therein. The declaration shall then be attested by such Zonal Officer, Commandant, [Deputy Commandant], Assistant Commandant, Adjutant or Police Officer, as the case may be.

(2) No officer of the Special Armed Force shall resign his appointment except in accordance with the terms of the declaration signed by him under sub-section (1).

(3) If any officer of the Special Armed Force resigns in contravention of this section, he shall be liable, without prejudice to any other penalty imposed by this Act or any other law for the time being in force, or the order of the Zonal Officer or the Commandant, [or the Deputy Commandant] to forfeit all arrears to pay then due to him.
