SANCII UNIVERSITY OF 131JDDUIST-INDIC STUDIES Rules & Regulations (For M. Phil./ Ph. D. Programmes) Short Tiile & Commencement These rules shall be called "Sanchi University of Buddhist-lndie Studies M.Phil./ Ph. D.
Ordinance, 2017" and these shall come into force from the date of its notification. This ordinance shall be applicable for all types of M. Phil./ Ph. D. Programmes offered by the Schools/Departments/Centres of the University.
Definitions and Interpretation:
2.1 'University' means the Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies, constituted under the Sanchi University ofBuddhist-Indic Studies Act, 2012.
2.2 'Foreign Nationals' means citizens of all countries other than India, who are not of Indian origin as defined under PIO.
2.3 'Persons of Indian Origin (P10)': A Person having foreign citizenship (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) without "NR1" status, who holds a Foreign Passport at the time of Sending application, consideration for admission and during the period of his/her study, and he/she or anyone/both of his/her parents or anyone/both of his/her grandparents is (or was)/are (or were) citizen(s) of India by virtue of the provisions of the Constitution of India or Sec. 2(b) of Citizenship Act, 1955 (Act No. 57 of 1955).
2.4 'NR1': Non Resident Indian as per the Indian Laws.
2.5 'Qualifying examination' means examination on the result of which a candidate becomes eligible for admission.
2.6 'Entrance Examination' means an examination conducted by the University for Admission in any programme/course as per the ordinance.
2.7 'M. Phil. Programmes qualifying examinations' means P.G. Course from any recognised University/Institute.
2.8 'Ph.D. Programmes qualifying examinations' means P.G. /M. Phil Course from any recognised University/Institute.
2.9 .'Viva-voce' means actual face to face examination of the candidate who shall qualify written examination of the University.
2.10 'Course' means a Semester Course offered by the University.

2.11 'Credits' means the quantum of contents/syllabus prescribed for a course and • determines the number of hours of instruction. In other words, Credit is the weightage 0 assigned to a course in terms of contact hours.

2.12 "Grade" means a letter grade assigned to a student on the basis of evaluation of a • course on the Ten (10) Point Scale. •
2.13 "Grade point" means the numerical equivalent of a letter grade assigned to a student in the Ten (10) Point Scale.

2.14 "Cumulative Grade Point Average" (CGPA)' means a Cumulative Grade Point Average.
•
2.15 "Continuous Assessment" is a process of evaluating growth and learning which needs c to be determined by the assessment of values, skills and knowledge imbibed by the students. •
2.16 "DRC" means Departmental Research Committee which is constituted at the.
Departmental level of the University. .
2.17 "SRC" means School Research Committee whit]) is constituted at the School level of the University.
2.18 "URB" means University Research Board which is constituted at. the University level.
2.19 "U. G. C." means University Grants Commission.
2.20. ."School" means an academic school of the UniverlitY.
2.21 "Department" means an academic department of the. University.
2.22 'Centre' means an academic centre of the University
2.23 "Vice-Chancellor" means the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
2.24 Dean Research means Dean who is In-charge of* Research. and allied activities nominated by Vice-Chancellor of the University.

3.1 Head of the department shall initiate the process of formation of DRC with the recommendation of Dean and thereby seeking approval of Vice-Chancellor.
3.2 The Composition of the DRC shall be as follows Head of the Department (Chairperson) A Faculty Member from an allied Subject/Department to be nominated by Dean of the concerned School Supervisor and Co-supervisor (if any) of research scholar All Faculty Members of the Department If the number of faculties in any Department is less than three, HOD shall appoint the deficit numbers from other Departments of the same school with the consent of Dean.
Head of the Department/Chairperson shall nominate a member of committee (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor) as Member secretary.
3.3 The quorum of' the DRC shall be minimum 50% of the total, Chairpersoq, Supervisor and Member secretary is mandatory.
3.4 The tenure of DRC shall be three years.
3.5 Functions of Departmental Research Committee The committee's shall foster and support departmental research by providing research structure, guidance, advice, peer-review and mentoring.
3.5.1 The DRC shall prepare a list of supervisors with number of seats available in concerned subjects before the advertisement for admission.
3.5.2 The DRC shall recommend the supervisor of the candidate.
3.5.3 The DRC shall recommend and forward the Synopsis submitted for registration of M. Phil. /Ph.D.
3.5.4 The DRC Committee shall conduct presentation of the synopsis for registration to Ph.D. degree and if approved, shall recommend the same to the SRC.
3.5.5 The DRC shall finalise the research topic of M.Phil. Students.
3.5.6 The DRC shall recommend the change of supervisor of the candidate to the SRC in certain cases.
-I. School Rese'arch Committee There shall be a SRC for each school. SRC bring together faculty and staff from different disciplines and departments to identify common and emerging areas of research expertise and interest. These committees cultivate interdisciplinary research themes where faculty and students from across the University work together on research programs and projects.
4.1 Dean of concerned school shall initiate the process of formation of SRC and recommend the panel of three subject experts for nomination to Vice-Chancellor.

4.5.4 The SRC may allow modification on recommendation of DRC in the research topic even after one year of registration.

4.5.6 The SRC shall appoint a supervisor to the research scholar (M.Phil/Ph.D) on 110 recommendation of DRC.
4.5.7 The SRC shall entertain the request for change of ssuperviSor on the recommendation of DRC in certain cases. ,
5. University Research 13oa rd (UR13) Ir The committee evaluates and advises on research-related issues and helps 'to identify emerging areas of interest or concern. - •
5.1 The Composition of the University Research Board (URB) shall be as follows • a) Vice-Chancellor (Chairperson).

6. Eligibility criteria for admission to M.Phil./Ph.D. Programme:
6.1 Minimum 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale i • (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions are essential in Master's degree or a degree recognized by the University or equivalent in concerned subject (as determined by the Departmental Research Committee) for the admission in M.Phil. / Ph.D. Programmes.
6.2 The minimum educational qualification for admission of Foreign/NRI candidates in various programmes of the University is same as for Indian candidates.

6.3 Students, who have qualified from Foreign Universities or Boards of Higher Education, • recognized as equivalent by the Association of Indian Universities (A1U) are eligible for admission. When required, a reference shall be made to MU to check the equivalent.
6.4 For the domicile of Madhya Pradesh a relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (noncreamy layer)/Differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of • the competent authority from time to time, or for those who. had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th cptember, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks ‘vithout including the grace mark procedures.
G.5 12.5% seats shall be reserved for the candidates who are employed in the recognized University/Institute. Such candidates shall be exempted from the entrance exatninations;
however minimum 60% marks are mandatory in the Viva-voce examination.

6.7 A person whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may

6.8 Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme.
7. Admission Procedure
7.1 The .eligible candidate shall be admitted to the M.Phil./Ph.D. Programme through an Entrance Examination and Viva-Voce conducted by Sanchi University of Buddhist- Indic Studies.
7.2 Minimum 60% marks shall be essential in the entrance examination overall (Written and Viva-voce). While minimum 50% marks shall be essential in the written and viva-voce separately for General/OBC candidates. However, 50% marks shall be essential in the entrance examination overall (Written and Viva-voce), while minimum 40% marks shall be essential in the written and viva-voce separately for SC/ST candidates.
7.3 Foreign/NRI students shall be exempted from the entrance examination being conducted by the University; however Viva-voce examination shall be mandatory. The qualifying . marks in the Viva-voce examination shall be 50%.
7.4 Candidates who are employed shall be required to produce Leave Sanction Order issued by the competent authority of their respective University/ Institute for the tenure of the programme/course at the time of registration. However, employee of SUMS shall not require leave for pursuing M.Phil./Ph.D.
8. Course Work for M.Phil. / Ph.D. Programme:
8.1 All candidates admitted to the M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes shall be requited to complete the eourse work prescribed by the Department dOring the initial one or two semesters.
8.2 The credit assigned to M.Phil. and Ph.D. course work shall be a minimum of 08 credits and a maximum of 20 credits.
8.3 The Candidate who has done M.Phil. but has not studied and clear the course on Research Methodology are required to complete the Ph.D. Course work.
8.4 If a candidate has done Ph.D. Course work from concerned department or from institution which is approved and recognized by the competent authority, then he/she shall be exempted from Ph.D. Course Work on the recommendation of the School Research Committee.
:8.5 The course work shall be treated as prerequisite far M.Phil./Ph.D. preparation. A mininium of four credits shall be assigned to one or more courses on Research Methodology which could cover areas such as quantitative methods, computer applications, researth ethics and revieW of published research in the relevant field, training, field Work, eta, Other cotir-scs Fur shall be advanced level courses preparing the students for M.Phil./Ph.D. degree.
ti.6 All courses prescribed for M.Phil. and Ph.D. course work shall be in.conTorMity with the credit hour instructional requirement and shall specify content, instructional and PW assessinent methods. They shall be cluly approved by the authorized academic bodies.

8.7 Other provisions for Course work shall be applicable as per University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degrees) Regulations, 2016 and amendments thereof shall be applicable.
9. Curriculum of the Course Work for Phil./Ph. D.:
9.1 There will be three papers. First paper will be core paper and is compulsory to all candidates. Rest two papers will be optional. Every student will have to take optional papers out of a list of optional papers being offered by the Department. The Optional papers will normally be offered to students by the department depending on the areas of interest of the candidates and availability of faculty. The composition of the Course is given as under:
One paper on "Research Methodology" (Compulsory to all candidates) (5 credit) Two optional papers (5x2=10 credit) Total credit = 5 x 3= 15 credit.
9.2 Where Department offers only core courses in such case three papers will be core papers and are compulsory to all candidates and there will be an assignment. The composition of the Course is given as under for the academic year 2016-17.:
One paper on "Research Methodology" (5 credit).
Two papers/Practicals on core courses (5x2=10 credit).
One paper Assignment (5 credit).
Total credit = 20
9.3 A M.Phil./Ph.D. scholar has to obtain a minimum of 55% of marks or its equivalent grade in the UGC7-pOint scale. (or an equivalent grade/CGPA in a point scale whereVer, grading system is followed) in the cc:rinse/work in order to be: eligible to continue in the programme and submit the dissertation/thesis.
10- Computation of SGPA and CGPA
10.1 The average performance of a student in a Semester will be based on his/her SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average).
The Semester Grade Point average vill be computed as follows:

I 0.2 Continuous Assessment: The continuous assessment system encourages the students to continuously take active part in the learning process. The value, skills and knowledge imbibed by the students can be assessed by the faculty. Based on the subject and faculty discipline, the mode of continuous assessment is deterMined. The o. report suggests 50 per cent weightage for ,continuous evaluation and 50 per cent r weightage for end-semester examinations. Out of the 50 per cent weightage for continuous evaluation, 25 percent will be for one internal examination in the semester r and the remaining 25 per cent will. be for continuous assessment such as discussions/presentations/assignments/projects, attendance etc., as spetified for the course. Tech/ Ph. D./D. Litt.

14.5 Anyone who is registered for Ph.D. degree shall not be eligible for appointment as Supervisor/Co-Supervisor.
14.6 Request for change of the Supervisor shall be entertained by SRC on recommendation of DRC only:
14.6.1 In case the Supervisor has left the service of the University.
14.6.2 In case of death of supervisor or retirement or critical medical conditions:
14.6.3 In case of extreme hardship where it becomes almost impossible for a candida1e to . work with the existing Supervisor.
14.6.4 The change of Supervisor shall be allowed during the first two years after registration. Normally, no change will be allowed after this peridd.
14.7 If a Supervisor proceeds on long leave of six or more than that, in such cases the Head of the concerned department shall be authorised to act as Supervisor for administrative purposes.
14.8 Other terms and conditions related to' allocation of research supervisor, University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Hi D Degrees) Regulations, 2016 and- amendments thereof shall be applicable.
Mod i flea tion of Topic Within one year of registration a candidate may modify the topic of M.Phil./M.D.
programme after the discussion in DRC and in case of Ph.D. with the approval of the SEC.
No major change shall be allowed in the research topic.
Requirements after Registration for Ph. .D. Programme , 1 6.1 A candidate registered for Ph.D. ,degree shall be required to submit biannual progess report and give one annual seminar each year. This report shall•be submitted to the Office of the Chairperson, SRC through the Head of the DepartMent for the Work ione (hiring the period or fraction of the year. The report will include all the teaching 11 • 12 @ 1 erigaements, surveys, tours, publications, research work etc. The supervisor of the candidate will give an assessment about the progress of the candidate.
616.2 if acandidate wants to submit his/her thesis, he/she will give a pre-submission seminar before submission of Thesis.
16.3 The presentations shall be organized by the Head of the Department. To these presentations members of the DRC, the Supervisor. of the candidate, other research students of the department and the teachers of the Department shall be invited. At least 50% of the faculty members of the DRC must remain present during the presentation. A report of the presentation along with the write up shall be sent to the Chairperson, SRC.
' In case presentation is not held, the matter shall be reported to SRC through the Head of concerned department.
16.4 A. 1,11.D, candidate shall have to be physically present before the DRC during the presentation of the synopsis for his/her registration to Ph.D. degree.
17. Submission of Ph.D. Thesis/M.Phil. Dissertation
17.1 A. thesis to be presented by •the candidate must be a piece of original research work characterized either by the discovery of neW facts or by fresh interpretation of facts or theories or should consist of applied work and should show the candidate's capacity for critical examination 'and judgrnent and for lucid presentation. Being a centre of excellence and seat of specialized learning, the University shall promote thematic/ translation of original/primary texts and other allied areas related to Indic-Buddhist
17.2 The candidate will not be permitted to submit his/her thesis/dissertation for the degree unlesa his supervisor is satisfied that the thesis/dissertation presented is worthy to put before the examiners for the evaluation to award the M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree.
17.3 A candidate is required to apply in writing to the Head of the Department that heishe is in a position to submit his/her thesis/diSsertation and give a pre-submission seminar.
The Plead of the Department will 'conduct such a seminar at the earliest but nta later than 30 days.
17.4 Dissertation and summary of the M.Phil. Candidate shall be submitted in four copies along with CD to concerned Head of the Department. The supervisor shall submit panel of three external experts to the Head of Department who shall forward the mires of dissertation along with the panel of external examiners to the office of Contract. of Examinations: Supervisor of candidate shall obtain prior cement of all the members of the proposed panel of examiners before forwarding it to Head of the Department. The Controller of Examinations shall seek the approval of Vice Chancellor to appoiat an external examiner from the panel of experts for evaluation of dissertation/summary and viva voce examination as well. In case, a candidate offers an identical subject for dissertation in the same' year which has been offered by another candidate at dis or other places, such dissertation'shall be sent to the same examiner for adjudication.

7.11 viva-voce examination. In case, a candidate offers an identical subject for thesis in the same year which has been offered by another candidate at this or other places, such thesis shall be sent to the same examiners for adjudication.
A candidate shall submit the Ph.D. Thesis/ M.Phil. dissertation not later than three months from the date of presentation of pre-submission seminar.
In case of non-submission of thesis/dissertation within the stipulated period, the candidate can seek extension of time from the Chairperson, SRC with a late fee decided by the University time to time..
M. Phil. scholars shall present at least one (1) research paper in a conference/seminar and Ph.D. scholars must publish at least one (1) research paper in refereed journal and make two paper presentations in conferences/seminars before the submission of the dissertation/thesis for adjudication, and produce evidence for the same in the form of presentation certificates and/or reprints.
At thc time of submission of Ph.D. thesis/M.Phil. dissertation by the candidate, a certificate will be submitted by the candidate that the thesis is a bonafide work of the candidate, no portion of the thesis is taken from any book or research work without quoting the references to the book or research paper and no portion is copied from any book or research work without proper reference.
To promote academic research and deterrence from plagiarism the candidate shall strictly follow the 'University Grants Commission (Promotion of academic integrity and prevention of plagiarism in higher education institutions) regulations 7- 2017' and subsequent regulations thereon, and shall submit the plagiarism report with the dissertation/thesis.
If there is a complaint by the External Examiner or by any one of plagiarism or copying of certain portions in the M.Phil. dissertation/ Ph. D. thesis or Project Reports of other examinations such complaints will be examined by UR13. A supervisor or cosupervisor, shall not act as a member of URB in such cases.
18_ Duration of the programme
1.8.1 M.Phil. programme shall be for a minimum duration of two (2) consecutive semesters/ one year and a maximum of four (4) consecutive semesters / two years.
I 8.2 Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years.
I. 8.3 If a candidate fails to submit Ph. D. thesis within the three years, the DRC can review the progress report of such candidate and recommend the same to SRC to extend the duration up to six years but not in totality rather it shall be extended year wise.
I 8.4 For M. Phil. dissertation maximum period for evaluation is of two months and for evaluation of Ph. D. thesis maximum period is of three months.
I 8.5 The Registration of candidates who fail to submit their thesis within the stipulated period as above or who foil to apply for grant of extension would automatically and cancelled.

18.6 Head of the Departments while forwarding an M.Phil. dissertation/Ph. D. Thesis to the r• office of the Controller of Examination for evaluation will ensure that the candidate submits a copy of "No Dues Certificate" complete in all respects including that of Department, Library, Hostel/Dean Students Welfare and Accounts Section. A Ph. D.
Thesis not followed by the "No Dues Certificate" will not be accepted (except for teachers and employees who are on the pay-rolls of Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies).
18.7 The women candidates and Persons with Disability (more than 40% disability) may be allowed a relaxation of one year for M. Phil. and two years for Ph. D. in the maximum duration. In addition, the women candidates may be provided Maternity Leave/Child Care Leave once in the entire duration of M. Phil./Ph D. for up to 240 days.
Extension in Period.
19.1 At least three months before the expiry of five years, a candidate will submit a Comprehensive Progress Report of the work done by him after paying a fee of Rs.
1000/- to the Head of the Department through the Supervisor and will appear before the School Research Committee chaired by the Dean of the School which will review the Comprehensive Progress Report and will recommend/reject extension for a period of one year. These cases will be forwarded to Vice-Chancellor for approval.
19.2 Only in exceptional medical eases such as life threatening diseases or in case of hospitalization due to medical exigency and such candidate has to get verified all such documents from Medical Officer of the University for seeking extension and such cases shall be placed before SRC for approval of the same.
Submission of the Abstract and number of copies of the Thesis/Dissertation
20.1 Along .with the thesis each candidate is required to submit an abstract of thesis in Hindi/English/Sanskrit/Pali and concerned subjects (300-400 words in 12 pt Unicode/ Times New Roman/Walkman Chankya/ }Curti dev 10 fonts in single space or as per instructions of supervisor). Abstract should have title of Thesis, name of student, name of supervisor, name of co-supervisor (if any), department, faculty, Registration No. and Enrolment No.
20.2 Number of Copies of Abstract: 05
20.3 The candidate shall submit 05 copies of the Ph. D. thesis and 04 copies of the M.Phil.
Dissertation through proper channel to the Head of the Department.
20.4 In case there are amendments in the Library Copy (as per suggestions of the exam:tiers) then a certificate duly signed by candidate, supervisor, head of department and examiner for viva-voce, must be incorporated in the Library copy of the thesis.
Panel or Examiners 14 2 1.11 The, broad criteria for evaluation of M. Ph iI. dissertation/ Ph. D. thesis shall be as:

21.1 For evaluation of M. Phil. Dissertation, the panel of examiner shall consists three names 0 of subject experts (external examiner), recommended by the concerned supervisor to the office of controller of examinations of the University through Head of the Department for seeking final approval from Vice-Chancellor to nominate one external expert.
21.2 For evaluation of Ph. D. Thesis; the panel of examiner shall consists five names of external subject experts, recommended by the concerned supervisor to the office of controller of examinations of the University through Head of the Department for seeking final approval from Vice-Chancellor to nominate two external experts.
21.3 The M.Phil. Dissertation submitted by a research scholar shall be evaluated by his/her Research Supervisor and at least one external examiner who is not in the employment of the Institution/College. The viva-voce examination, based among other things, on The critiques given in the evaluation report, shall be conducted by both of them together, and shall be open to be attended by Members of the DRC/SRC/URB, all faculty members of the Department, other research scholars and other interested experts/ researchers.
21.4 The Ph. D. thesis submitted by a research scholar shall be evaluated by his/her Research Supervisor and at least two external examiners, who are not in employment of the SUBJS. The viva-voce examination, based among other things, on the critiques given in the evaluation report, shall be conducted by the Research Stipervisor and at least one of the two external examiners, and shall be open to be attended by Members of the DRC/SRC/URB, all faculty members of the Department, other research_scholars and other interested experts/researchers. .
21.5 The persons recommended for evaluation of the thesis should invariably be Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor or Professor.
21.6 In case the panel of examiners is not received from the Head of the Department within one month from the date of request; the Dean Research may request the supervisor to submit the panel of examination a fresh.
21.7 In case of retired persons, their last designation shall be indicated without which the - panel would be considered incomplete.
21.8 The examiner will be free to seek clarification on any matter from candidate's supervisor through the Controller of Examinations. The Controller of Examination will ensure the secrecy of examiner's identity.
21.9 In the event of one of the examiners recommending the award of the Ph.D. degree and the second examiner recommending rejection of the thesis; on the recommendation or the Vice-Chancellor, the thesis shall be referred to a third examiner to be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor from out of the original panel of examiners. The third examiner shall not be informed of the recommendations of the two examiners. The recommendations of those two examiners who submit similar recommendations shall be final. This procedure shall also be followed if the examiner who. has suggested modifications /rejects the revised thesis.
Z.1.10 After the expiry of a period of three months if no report is received, the next examiner may be appointed. The first examiner will be requested to send the thesis back. If in due course, the report is received from the first examiner, the report will not be considered.

22. Viva-Voce Examination
22.1 The viva-voce examination will be compulsory for all the candidates. This will be conducted at Academic Campus of the University by external examiner as approved by the Vice Chancellor who has evaluated the dissertation/thesis. The Head of the Department and the Supervisor of the candidate will be associated with the conduct of the viva-voce to be arranged by the Head of the Department within, one month of receipt of intimation.
22.2 The public viva-voce of the research scholar to defend the dissertation/thesis shall be conducted only if the evaluation report(s) of the external examiner(s) on the dissertation/thesis is/are satisfactory and include a specific recommendation for conducting the viva-voce examination. If the evaluation report of the external examiner in case of M.Phil. dissertation„or one of evaluation reports of the external examiner in. case of Ph.D. thesis, is unsatisfactory and does not recommend 'Chia-vow, the Institution shall send the dissertation/ thesis to another external examiner out of the approved panel of examiners and the viva-voce examination shall be held only if the report Of the latest examiner is satisfactory. If the report of the latest examiner is also unsatisfactory, the dissertation/ thesis shall be rejected and the research scholar stall be declared ineligible for the award of the degree.•
22.3 In case of delay in the conduct of viva-voce, supervisor can approach the Chairp!rson, SRC for the needful.
22.4 in case report(s) of the examiner(s) of the thesis are not favourable, the vive-vocc examination of the candidate shall not be conducted.
22.5 The report about the performance of the candidate in the viva-voce examination shall be prepared by the external examiner and internal examiner as well.
23- Submission after Viva-Voce All M.Phil./ Ph.D. candidates shall have to. submit two soft, copies of their MPhil.
dissertation/Ph.D. thesis in two separate CDs to the Office of Department. The offee of Department will send one CD to the University Library, one Cl) for uploading the ?h.D.
thesis to UGC website, after the meeting of URB and notification of the Ph.D. Degree

25.2 Prior to the actual award of the degree, the degree-awarding institution of the University shall issue a provisional Certificate to the effect that the Degree has been awarded in accordance with the provisions of these UGC Regulations, 2016 and subsequent amendments.
26. Scheme of the Paper for M. Ph il./Ph. D. Course Work:
Question paper must contain Two Sections: Section A/Group-A and Section 13/Group-
13. Section A is compulsory in nature and Section 13 shall have internal choices.
26.1 Section A/Group-A is of total 10 (Ten) Marks and will contain 10 (Ten) Questions of 01(One) Mark each. These questions can be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) or Very Short Answer Questions coverini the entire syllabus.
26.2 Section B/Group-13 is Of total 40 (Forty) Marks with Intel-nal Choice. These questions will be of Descriptive type and can be also asked in form of Short Notes / Long Type / Very Long type. The distribution of question(s) ct marks throughout the syllabus should be such that each and every unit of syllabus will be covered with even balance.
