Section 8: Constitution of the Force.

The Madras District Police Act, 1859Central Act · Act 24 of 1859

The entire Police establishment of the Madras Presidency shall for the purposes of this Act be deemed to be one Police Force, and shall be formally enrolled, and shall consist of such number of Officers and men, and shall be otherwise constituted in such manner, as shall be from time to time ordered by the Governor in Council with the sanction of the Governor General of India in Council.
