The Additional Director and Joint Directors shall exercise the powers and perform the duties conferred and imposed on Deputy Directors by or under the Act and perform such duties conferred or imposed on the Director by or under the Act as are assigned to him. The main duties of Deputy Director, as laid down in the Act, are the inspection and examination of boilers and steam-pipes. Inspections shall be carried out in strict accordance with Chapter IX of the Regulations and Chapters IV and V of these rules.
