(1) Water used for purposes other than those of irrigation from any natural stream or artificial drain receiving percolation water from a canal shall be charged a water-rate not exceeding that as would ordinarily have been charged if the supply had been made from the canal for such purposes; and water used for such purposes from 2[a well situated on either side of a canal, within a distance of 35 metres from the nearest boundary canal] shall be charged a water rate not exceeding one-half of such rate, as may be determined by the Appropriate Authority.
(2) The provisions of sub-section (1) shall not apply to water from such stream, drain or well used exclusively for domestic purposes by the residents of any village.
