In exercise of the powers conierred by sub· section (1) and' clauses (tv) (v) and (vii) of section 26 of the Maharashtra Public Libraries Act, 1967 (Mah. XXXIV of 1967). and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, the Government of Maharasbtra hereby makes the following rules, the same having been previously published as required by sUb-section (1) of the said section 26. namely :-- RULES
CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY
1. Short title.-These Rules may be called ·the Maharashtra Librark~ (Libraries of Research and Literary Institutions R~gnition for Grant-in· aid) Rilles, 1974.. '.
2. Definitions. In these rules, unless the contest otherwise requires.-
(a) "Act" means the Maharashtra Public Libraries Act, 1967 : • . (b)" admissible expenditure" means expenditure incurred on all or any of the items specified in Sche-dule II appende-d to these rules;
(c) "cerJficates of recognition It means a certificate granted to a Library under rule 6 ;
(d) "Library" means a Lib-rary of a L',v::;rary Institution or 01 Research Institution;
(e) "literary institution" means an Institution dedicabl to fostering propagating and developing Marathi language and !ite-rature duly re cognised by Government of Maharasbtra and which is registered under the Societies Registration Act. 1860 or the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950;
(f) "Management" in relation to a library me.ans the Managing Com mittee of a Library ;
(g) "literary institution" means an Institution dedicated for fostering of a Library in accordance with the rules 'of that Library; (It) "reselTch imtitution" means an institution dedicated to- research work through Maralhi medium and rt:c..:ognised by Government of Mabn· rasbtra, and which is recistered under the Soci~tie·s Registration Act. 1860. ~ , or the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950;. ,
