During such period or periods as the State Government may, by order in the Official Gazette, specify, and in such other manner as it deems fit, the Executive Officer shall, for the purpose of maintaining law and order within the precincts of the Temples and a distance within a radius of 1.6 kilometres therefrom, exercise all the powers and perform all the duties respectively conferred and imposed by the [Code of Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 (2 of 1974)], on the District Magistrate.
