Section 1: Short title and extent.

The Maharashtra Public Conveyances Act.State Act of Maharashtra · Act 7 of 1920

(1) This Act may be called [the Maharashtra Public Conveyances Act].

(2) This section and sections 36, 38 and 39 extend to the [whole of the [State of Maharashtra]]. The rest of the Act extends, subject to the provisions of section 36, only to the [Greater Bombay] :

[Provided that on the commencement of the Bombay Public Conveyances (Unification and Amendment) Act, 1958 (Bom. LXXXVI of 1958), the rest of the Act shall come into force at once in those parts of the State of Bombay in which the Hackney-carriage Act, 1879 (XIV of 1879), or the Hyderabad Public Conveyances Act, 1956 (Hyd. Act XXXIX of 1956), or the Bombay Public Conveyances Act, 1920 (Bom. VII of 1920), as adapted and applied to the Saurashtra area or the Bombay Public Conveyances Act, 1920 (Bom. VII of 1920), as extended to the Kutch area was in force immediately before such commencement.]
