MAHARASHTRA UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, NASHIK Statute No. 01/2004 : Regarding the Rules of procedure for conduct of business at meeting of the Academic Council and such other matters in relation to meetings.

1) A meeting of the Academic Council shall be convened under the orders of the Vice-Chancellor as per the procedure prescribed u/s 52 (2) of the MUHS Act,

1998.

Provided that, the Vice-Chancellor shall convene a meeting of the Academic Council, if a requisition signed by not less than one-fourth of members of the Academic Council, has been received by him.

2) (i) The Registrar shall be the Secretary of the Academic Council. He shall issue notices of meetings, record the minutes of the proceedings and perform all other functions required to be performed by the Secretary of the Academic Council.

(ii) Not less than twenty-one days notice of the date, time and place of a meeting shall be given.

Provided in the case of an emergent meeting such previous notice shall be given as the circumstances in each case may permit.

3) No business shall be considered at a meeting other than that specified in the agenda. Any business other than agenda may be brought forward by any member with the permission of the chair.

4) Propositions to be laid before a meeting by any member must be received in the Registrar’s Office fourteen clear days before the date of the meeting, other than an emergent meeting.

5) The agenda shall dispatched ten clear days before the date of the meeting, other than an emergent meeting.

6) A meeting may be adjourned to any day in order to complete unfinished business. Notice of such adjournment shall also be sent to absent members.

7) The Vice-Chancellor or in his absence the Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall preside over the meeting. In the absence of both, the member elected by the AC shall preside over the meeting.

8) i) All acts of the Academic Council done and all questions coming or arising before it shall be decided by a majority of votes of members present and voting at the meeting, the whole number present at the meeting, whether voting or not, not being less than one-third of the total number of members of the Academic Council

(ii) The Chairperson shall have a vote and casting vote.

9) The minutes of the proceedings of every meeting shall be drawn up by the Secretary and counter signed by the Chairperson.

10) Any member of the Academic Council may make any recommendation or proposal to Academic Council. Such recommendation or proposal shall be sent in the form of a letter through the Registrar and shall be considered by the Academic Council at the earliest date possible.

11) The discussion of matters at meeting of the Academic Council shall be regulated by the Chairperson for the time being in accordance with the rules laid down for discussion of matters at meeting of the Senate is so far as they may be applicable.

12) (i) Quorum for the meeting of the Academic Council shall ordinarily be one- third of the number of the members.

(ii) If the quorum is not present within fifteen minutes after the advertised time of the meeting, the Chairperson shall adjourn the meeting and such adjourned meeting shall commence after forty-five minutes of the advertised time and such adjourned meeting shall require no quorum.

13) The Senate may by a resolution amend or rescind any rule of procedure contained in these Ordinance.
