1.: A V\ WM" 1p.control the use and play of Loud—~Spea’em in the State of Manipur. BE it enacted by the Legislature of Manipurin theTwentyseVénth Years of the‘ Republic of India as fellows.—‘
1. (1) This Act may be called the Manipur Control of the Use and Play of Loud-Speakers Act, 1976. . . . “(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Manipur.
2. In this Act,11nless there is anything repugnant in the subject 01' context,——
(i) “Loud-Speake_rs.”1neans an instrument to augment snail sounds Vocal, instrument or recorded; and
(ii) “Prescribed” means prescribed by rules made under this Act. .
3._ No persoilshall use and play a Loud-Speaker:——
(a) Within such distance as may be prescribed from a hospital 91'from a b111lding in Whichthere is a telephone exchange, 'or
(b) Whithm such distance as may be prescribcd from any educational insttutxon maintained, managed recognised or controlled bythe State Government, a University established under any law for the time being in force 91' a iocal authority or admitted to such UniVersity, or any hostel maintained; maiiaged or recognised by such institution When‘suqh instimtion or hostel. .is in the use, of 1 students,

8. An offence under this Act, shall be bailable.
9. Any person who contravenes any of the provision of this Actshall be punishable with imprisonment which may extendto one monthor with fine which may extend to one hundred rupees Or With both, andthe court trying such contravention may, on conviction of such persondirect that the loud-speaker seized under section 7 be forfeited toGovernment.
Provided that When the owner of the Ioud-speaker is a personother that the person convicted, the Court Shall, before passing theorder of forfeitUre, give such Owner a reasonable opportunity ofshowing cause, if any, against such order.
10. The State Government may after previous publication in theofficial Gazette, make rules for carrying out the purposes of this Act.11. (1) The Bihar Control of the use of Loud-Speaker’s Act,1955 (Bihar Act XII of 1955) in its application to the State of Manipuris hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any actiontaken in the exercise of any power conferred by or under the said Actshall be deemed to have been done or taken in the exercise of thepowers conferred by or under this Act, as if-this Act were in forceon the day on which such thing Was done or action was taken.
