Section 3: Residential accommodation of the Chief Minister, other Minister and Ministers of State.

(1) The Chief Minister, other Ministers and Ministers of State shall be entitled without payment of rent to the use of a free-furnished residence in Shillong and also at any other place which Government may for the purpose of this Act declare to be the headquarters of Government for the time being, for so long as such declaration remains in force.

(2) The residence shall be maintained at the public expense which shall not exceed the amount prescribed by rules. Explanation: - For the purpose of this section maintenance in relation to a residence shall include the payment of local rates, taxes and provision of electricity and water.
