Section 8: Creation of Police Ranges.

The State Government, in consultation with the Director General of Police, may by notification, create as many Police Ranges as considered necessary. Each Range, consisting of two or more Districts / Police Districts, shall be headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy Inspector General/Inspector General of Police who shall supervise the police administration of the Range and report to the Addl. Director General of Police, Law and Order if there is one or else to the Director General of Police.
