Section 3: The University and its incorporation.

The St. Xavier's University, Shillong Act, 2020 (Act No. 19 of 2020)State Act of Meghalaya · Act 19 of 2020

(1) There shall be established and incorporated a University by the name of the St. Xavier's University, Shillong. (2) The headquarter of the University shall be located within or in close proximity to the Shillong Metropolitan Area. (3) The University shall be a unitary University having no power to provide affiliation to any college; Provided that the University may have as many constituent colleges situated within the territory of Meghalaya and exclusively established and administered by the Sponsoring Society and its Parent Body and any other such colleges. (4) The Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor and other officers and employees of the University and the members of the Governing Board and the Executive Council, so long as they continue to hold such office or membership, shall constitute a body corporate by the name of the St. Xavier's University, Shillong. (5) The University shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and shall sue and be sued by the name of the St. Xavier's University, Shillong.
