Section 19: Provisional registration of Indian vessel.

The Merchant Shipping Act, 2025Central Act · Act 24 of 2025

(1) If, at any port or place a vessel becomes entitled to be registered as an Indian vessel, the Registrar may grant a provisional certificate of registration in accordance with such procedure as may be prescribed and such provisional certificate shall have the effect of a certificate of registration.

(2) The procedure for validity and extension or cancellation of such registration shall be such as may be prescribed.

(3) The unsatisfied mortgage shall continue to be reflected in the register book in case of deemed closure of the provisional registration.
