Section 232: Power of Central Government to initiate proceedings.

The Merchant Shipping Act, 2025Central Act · Act 24 of 2025

On receipt of the marine safety investigation report under sub-section (6) of section 231, or if the Central Government is of the opinion that prima facie, there exists incompetency, misconduct or violation of any law for the time being in force on the part of any person, it may---

(a) initiate administrative action; and

(b) direct such officer or other authority having jurisdiction over the area to initiate proceedings against such person as may be required in accordance with such law.
