Section 73: Ship owners’ liability.

(1) The ship owner shall ensure that seafarers employed on the vessels are provided with a right to material assistance and support with respect to the financial consequences of sickness, injury or death occurring while serving under a seafarers’ employment agreement or arising from their employment under such agreement.

(2) Nothing contained in sub-section (1) shall affect any other legal remedy available to a seafarer under any other law for the time being in force.
