Section 63: Adoption of Single Line Working in certain cases

Single Line working shall be adopted in the following situations, namely:—

(1) Normal operation on a Single line or on Twin Single Lines shall be adopted when the signaling system permits operation in both directions, and such operation shall be carried out as per procedure specified under sub-rule (i) of rule 64.

(2) When there is an obstruction on a portion of line between any two stations on one of the running lines, the train services may be continued in the affected section on the adjacent line in both directions using single line working on the unaffected track, and such single line working shall be operated in the manner as specified under sub-rule (2) of rule 64.
