Section 211: Works to be undertaken for supply of water

The Nagaland Municipal Act,2001State Act of Nagaland · Act 10 of 2001

For the purpose of providing the municipal area the proper and sufficient supply of water for public and private uses, the Municipality:-

(a) shall cause such tanks, reservoirs, engines, pipes, taps, and other waterworks, as may be necessary to be constructed or maintained, within or outside the municipal area;

(b) may purchase or take on lease any water-works or any right to store or to take and convey water either within or outside the municipal area; and

(c) may enter into an agreement with any person or authority for the supply of water.

Provided that the Municipality may, with the approval of the Government, make over to, or take over from, a statutory body that water works so as to do anything, which may be necessary or expedient for the purpose of carrying out its functions under this Act or under any other law for the time being in force.
