Section 439: Power to prohibit use for human habitation of buildings unfit for such use

Notwithstanding anything contained in section 359, if any building or any part of any building within the municipal area appears to the Municipality to be unfit for human habitation in consequence of the want of proper means of drainage or ventilation, or any sufficient reason, the Municipality may, by notice, prohibit the owner or occupier thereof from using the same for human habitation, or suffering it to be so used until it has been rendered fit for such use to the satisfaction of the Municipality, and no such owner or occupier shall inhabit such building or suffer it to be uninhabited until the Municipality shall have informed in writing, the owner or occupier that the prohibition has been withdrawn.
