(1)Each course in a semester shall be assigned a certain number of credits, depending on its lecture, tutorial, and laboratory contact hours.
(2) The University shall offer mandatory (Core) and optional (Elective) courses and these courses shall carry three credits each, though some courses may be awarded two or four credits depending upon contact hours per week per course.
(3) The internship or project or dissertation credits may be decided by Board of Studies of the concerned School.
(4) A course which has three contact hours per week shall be awarded three credits and the Board of Studies of a School may allot less or more credits to a particular course.
(5) A student shall have to acquire forty eight credits to obtain a degree:
Provided that the total credits earned by a student shall include all levels of courses and any other special courses shall be decided by the Boards of Studies.
(6) The normal work load of a student for each semester shall be around twelve credits:
Provided that the Dean of each School may allow a student to take additional credits when a student has been permitted to repeat a course.

(7) A student shall not be permitted to opt for a course on any particular topic if he or she has not cleared a foundation course prescribed as a pre-requisite for that topic.
