The National Environment Appellate Authority Ordinance, 1997.Ordinance · 1997

(1) This Ordinance may be called the National Environment Appellate Authority Ordinance, 1997.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

Short title and comjnencerncrtL 2 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY [PAjrrll— Definitions. 2. In this Ordinance, union the context otherwise requires,—

(a) "Act" means the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986;

(ft) "Authority" means the National Environment Appellate Authority established under sob-section (/) of section 3;

(c) "Chairperson" means the Chairperson of the Authority;

(d) "Member" means a Member of the Authority;

(<f) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Ordinance;

</) "Vice-Chairperson" means the Vice-Chairperson of the Authority;

(2) The head office of the Authority shall be at Delhi.

Composition of Authority.

4. The Authority shall consist of a Chairperson, a Vice-Chalrperaon and such other Members, not exceeding three, as1 the Central Government may deem fit.

Qualifications for appointment as Chairperson.

Vice-Chairperson or other Member.
