Section 5: Establishment of Market Committee

The State Government shall establish a Market Committee for every market area in respect of the agricultural produce for which the said area is declared to be a market area under Section 4. It shall be the duty of the Market Committee to enforce the provisions of this Act, and the rules and byelaws made thereunder and the conditions of the licence granted under Sub-section (3) of Section 4 in such market area and within such distance thereof as may be specified in the notification under Subsection (1) of Section 4 and, when so required by the State Government, to establish a market therein providing for such facilities as the State Government, may from time to time direct in connection with the purchase and sale of the agricultural produce concerned.
