Section 3: Definitions

The Odisha Animal Contagious Diseases Act, 1949State Act of Odisha · Act 8 of 1949

In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context-

(a) "Animal" means any domesticated animal or bird kept in confinement;

(b) "an infective animal" is one which is affected with a scheduled disease * Published in Orissa Gazette, Extraordinary dated, 29.7.1949.

The Odisha Gazette EXTRAORDINARY PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. Date : 29th July 1949 2 or has recently been in contact with or in close proximity to an animal so affected;

(c) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules or regulations made under this Act;

(d) "scheduled disease" means any disease for the time being included in the Schedule in Appendix 1.
