Section 29: Power to declare Forest no longer reserved

The Odisha Forest Act, 1972.State Act of Odisha · Act 14 of 1972

(1) The State Government may, by notification, direct that with effect from such date as may be specified therein, any forest declared to be a reserved forest under this Act or any portion thereof shall cease to be a reserved forest.

(2) With effect from the aforesaid date such forest or portion of the forest shall cease to be a reserved forest but the rights therein, if any which have been extinguished shall not revive in consequence of such cessation.

(3) Whenever any reserved forest or any portion thereof ceases to be a reserved forest by virtue of a notification issued under Sub-Section

(1), the State Government shall, as far as practicable, constitute other lands equal in area to the reserved forest so notified, to be a reserved forest in accordance with the provision of this Chapter.
