Section 14: Penalty.

The Orissa Kendu Leaves (Control of Trade) Act, 1961State Act of Odisha · Act 28 of 1961

If any person contravenes any of the provisions of this Act or the rules made thereunder"

(a) he shall he punishable with imprisonment which shall extend to one year or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both;

(b) the Kendu leaves in respect of which such contravention has been made or such part thereof as to the Court may seem fit shall be forefeited to the Govern ment:

Provided that if the Court is of the opinion that it is not necessary to direct forfeiture in respect of the whole, or as the case may be, any part of the leaves, it may, for reasons to be recorded, reliain from doing so.
