The Orissa Requisitioning of Omnibuses Act, 1984State Act of Odisha · Act 11 of 1984

(1) This Act may be called the Orissa Requisitioning of Omnibuses Act, 1984.

(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Orissa.

(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 7th day of October, 1983.

2. ln this Act, unless the context otherwise requires-

(a) "competent authority" means any person appointed by the Government, by notification, to perform the functions of the competent authority under this Act within such area as may be specified in the notification;

(b) "Corporation" means the Orissa State Road Transport Corporation registered under the Road Transport Corporations Act, 1950 ;

(c) "Government" means the State Government of Orissa;

(d) "Omnibus" has the same meaning as assigned under Clause (18-A) of Section 2 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1939; and

(e) "owner" includes where the person in possession of Omnibus is a minor the guardian of- such minor and in relation to an Omnibus which is the subject of a hire purchase agreement, the person in possession of the vehicle under that agreement.
