1. ( I ) This Act may be called thc Orissa Revenue short l i ~ l c , cxtcnt n n d P.dministratio n (Units) Act, 1963. comrncnccmcnl

purposes of this Act. ] Gns l i~u t ion 4. The State Government may, by notification or Tahsils . divide any Subdivision into as many Ta hsils, fixing the local limits of each such Tahsit as they deem fit and may in l ike manner alter the said limits :
Provided that the State Government may declare the whole of the are2 within the Iocal limits of a Subdivision to be a!so a Tahsil ;
Provided further that any area declared to be a Ta hsil for ths purposes of revenue administration prior to the date of commencement of this Act by an order notified in the Gazette and in force immediately before the said date, shall, unless the Stale Government otherwise direct, be deemed to be a Tahsil for purposes of this Act.
Ropcal and 5. With effect from the date of commencement of saviw. this Act-
(a) all references to a Deputy Commissioner in any other law or in any ruIe, regulation, order or noti6ca tion having the force of law, shall, for all purposes whatsoever whether relating to revenue ad ministration or not, be read and construed as references to the Collector of the district within the local limits of which the area within the local jurisdiction of the Deputy Commissioner is situate ;

(b) the laws specified in the second column of the Schedule shall stand repeaIed to the extent specified in the third column thereof :
(c ) save as otherwise provided in this Act any otber law or any rule, regulation, order or notification having the force of law corresponding t o any of the provisions of this Act or repugnant thereto shall stand repealed ; and
(cl) save as otherwise provided in rhis Act all units of revenue administration by whatever name locally known before the said date shall cease t o be such units.
