Section 27: Police officer not to resign without leave or notice

No police officer shall resign his office or withdraw himself from the duties thereof, unless expressly allowed to do so in writing by the Commissioner or by such other officer as may be authorised by the Commissioner to grant such permission or unless he has given to his superior officer, a notice in writing for a period not less than two months of his intention to do so.

Explanation :– A police officer who, being absent on leave, fails without reasonable cause to report himself for duty on the expiration on such leave shall be deemed, within the meaning of this section, to withdraw himself from the duties of his office.
