And Whereas it is necessary and expedient in the public interest so to do; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of section 22 of the Passport Act, 1967 (15 of 1967), the Central Government hereby exempts the regular employees of the Central Passport Organisation, their spouses and children Upto the age of 15 years, from the operation of the provisions of section 5 of the said Act, read with rule 8 of the Passport Rules, 1980 in so far as such provisions relate to the payment of fees for issuing an ordinary 36 page passport to be valid for 10 years or 20 years, as the case may be, and its renewal and for rendering of miscellaneous services on such passport. (CPV) 3 4 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA:EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC.3 (i)] 5 6 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(i)] NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 22nd May, 2000 G.S.R. 473(E).— |n exercise of the power conferred by section 24 of the Passport Act, 1967 (15 of 1967), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Passport Rules. 1980, namely:-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Passport (Amendment) Rules, 2000.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In Schedule IV to the Passport Rules, 1980.
(a) for serial number 29 to 32 and the entries relating thereto, the following shall be substituted, namely :- Out

(b) for the note, the following note shall be substituted namely:- "Note : Only passport fee as applicable would be payable for grant of an out-of-turn Tatkaal passport covered under serial Nos. 29,30,31 32,33,34 and 35 in the following cases, namely :-

(ii) The attendant (one only) who would need to accompany the applicant referred to at (i) above.
(iii) in case of death abroad of spouse, father, mother, child, child's spouse, grand child, brother or his spouse, and sister or her spouse, of the applicant" and
(iv) in the case of a student applicant requiring a passport for appearing in the examination for admission to some foreign educational institution, or for going abroad for studies, provided his/her parents'/guardians' income is less than Rs.2000/- per month."
