1. Short title and commencement - (l) Those rules may be called the Post Office Recurring Deposit (Amendment) Rules, 1982#

1. Short title and commencement - (l) These rules may be called the Post Office Recurring Deoosit (Amendment) Rules, 1983.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gaz^tte.

2. In the Post Office Recurring Deposit Rules, 1981,-

(i) in rule 9, in both the Schedules, for the last item, "'From 1.4.1982 onwards 786#80", the following items shall; be substituted, namely - ''From 1.4.1982 to 28.2.1983 786.80 From 1.3.1983 onwards 807.60";

(ii) in rule 10, in sub-rule (2), in clauses (a) and (c), for the words and figures "Table 1, 2 or 11", the words and figures "Table 1,2 11 or 13" shall be substituted;

(iii) in rule 11, in sub-rule (2), in clauses (b) and (c), for the words and figures "Table 3,4 . or 12", the words and figures "Table 3,4,12 or 14" shall be substituted; ..... #

1.(1) These rules may be called the Post Office Recurring Deposit (Amendment) Rules, 1986.

(2) They shall come into force on thj first day of April, 1986.

2. In the Post Office Recurring Deposit Rules, 1981,

(i) in rule 6, for the sub-rule (2), the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely:— "(2) The amount of monthly deposit on accounts opened on or after the 1st day of April, 1986 shall be a multiple of five rupees, subject to a minimum of ten nipees."

(ii) in rule 6, for the table below sub-rule (1), the following table shall be substituted, namely :— 'Advance deposite Rebate for an account of Rs. 10 denomination.

(i) Six or more deposites but not exceeding ele ven deposits made in any calendar month One rupee

(ii) Twelve or more de posits made in any calendar month Four rupees for every twelve deposits and one rupee for the balance, if any, of not less than six deposits.";

(iii) in rule 13,—

(a) in sub-rule (1)—

(i) For clause (i) the following clause shall be substituted, namely :— "(i) The payment of full maturity value under this rule shall be restricted to the matu rity value of an account of denomination of fifty rupees";

(ii) clause (ix) shall be omitted;

(b) for sub-rule (2), the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely :— "2. (a) If a depositor or a surviving'depositor has more than one account of the denominations not exceeding fifty rupees, the benefit of payment under this rule shaH be available in respect of all such accounts which may be specified by the depositor or the surviving depositor, as the case may be, subject to a maximum of the maturity value of an account of denomination of rupees fifty. (b) If a depositor or a surviving depositor has more than one account of the denominations exceeding fifty rupees, the benefit of payment under this rule shall be available in respect of only that account which may be specified by the depositor or the surviv ing depositor, as the case may be, subject to a maxi mum of the maturity Value of an account of denomi nation of rupees fifty.

Provided that a depositor or a surviving depositor may, by an application to the Post Office Savings Bank where the account is held, change the account referred to in clause (a) or clause (b).

(c) If no account has been specified by a depo sitor or a surviving depositor under clause (a) or as the c^ may be under clause (b), the benefit of pay ment under this rule shall be admissible in respect of earlier accounts which qualify for payment under this rule.

(d) Notwithstanding anything contained in clauses

(a) to (c), if a depositor or a surviving depositor, has more than one account, and diflferent nominations are made in respect of the accounts, the benefit of payment under this rule shall be admissible to the nominees in respect of earier accounts which qualify for payment.";

2. In the Post Office Recurring Deposit Rules, 1981, after rule 9, the following rule shall be inserted, namely:- ''9A. (1) These rules may be called the Post Office Recurring Deposit (Second Amendment) Rules, 1988.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. In the Post Office Recurring Deposit Rules,2. 1981;

(i) in rule 9, in both the schedules, for the last item, namely, "From 1-4-1987 onwards—797-10". the following shall be substituted ;— "From 1-4-1987 onwards—800,39";

(ii) in rule 10, in sub-rule (2), for the words and figures "Table 1,2, 1 1 or 13" wherever they occur, the words and figures "Table 1, 2, 11, 13, or 17" shall be substituted;

(ill) in rule 11. in sub-rule (2), for the words and figures "Table 3,4, 12, or 14", wherever they occur the words and figures "Table 3,4, 12. 14 or 18" shall be substituted; ,'lv) in-Tables 13 and 14, for the words and figures on or after Isl March, 1983", whereever they occur, the words and figures "on or after 1st March, 1983 but before 1st April. 1987" shall be substituted.

(v) after Table 16, the following Tables shall be inserted, namely:— "Table 17 (Sec ride 10) Amount, inclusive of interest, payable on an account opened on or after 1st April, 1987 and continued, with monthly deposits, beyond the maturity period or maturity period as extended under sub-rule( 1) of rule 7. Revival of the account shall be permitted only within a period of six moiiEths from the month of sixth default. Interest at the rate of five paise. for every five rupees of a defaulted instalment for eaoh month of default shall also be paid alongwith such deposit and an account in which defaiilted instalments are so deposited, shall not be treated as discontinued."

3. 1. (1) These rules may be called the Post Office Recurring Deposil(Amendment) Rules, 1995.

(2) They shall come into force on the first day of July,

1995.

2. In the Post Office Recurring Deposit Rules, 1981:-

(1) in rule 10, in sub-rule (2), under items (a) and (c) for words and figures "Table 1,2,11,13,17,20 or 22," the words and figures" Table 1,2,11,13,17,20,22 or 26" shall be substituted.

(2) in rule 11, in sub-rule (2). under items (b) and (c) for the words and figures "Table 3.4,12,14,18,21 or 23" the words and figures "Table 3,4,12,14,18,21,23 or 27" shall be substituted.

(3) in rule 12, in sub-rule (l)(b)(ii) for the words and figures'Table 5,6,7,8,9,10,15 or 16" and in sub-rules (3) and(4) for the words and figures Table 5,6,7,8,9,10, 15,16,19,24 or25" the following words and figures shall be substituted, namely:- "Tablc 5,6,7,8,9.10,15,16,19.24.25,26 or27"

(4) in the opening para of Table 19, for the words and figures "before 31si March, 1991", the words and figures "before Isi April, 1991" shall be substituted.

(5) in the opening para of Table 24. for the words and figures "before 30th September, 1991", the \sords and figures "before Isi Ociobcr,199r' shall be substituted.

(6) in Table 22,23 and 25 for the words and figures "on or after 1st October 1991", the words and figures "on or after 1st October, 1991 but before 2nd Scptember,1993", shall be substituted.

1. (1) These rules may be called the Post Office Recurring Deposit (Amendment) Rules, 2011.

(2) They shall come into force on the date oftheir publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Post Office Recurring Deposit Rules, 1981,— (A) in rule 6, for sub-rule (3), the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely:— "(3) The first monthly deposit shall be made at the time of opening the account and the amount of such deposit shall be the denomination of the account. Each subsequent monthly deposit shall be made up to 15th day of the month in respect of accounts opened between 1 st day and 15th day of a calendar month and up to end of the calendar month in respect of accounts opened between 16th day and last day of the month and shall be equal to the first deposit,."; (B) in rule 9, in sub-rule (2), after clause (b), the following new clause shall be Inserted, namely: "(c) Where an account has become discontinued or where the defaults in monthly deposit in an account have not been rectified during its maturity period or maturity period as extended under sub-rule (1) of rule 7 and the depositor has retained the amount in the account beyond maturit)' period, the depositor shall be entitled to a simple interest at the rate applicable fi-om time to time to post office savings accounts on the deposited amount u"om the date of maturi^' till the date of closure of the account." i (C) in rule 9A, for the words "interest at the rate applicable", the words "simple interest at the rate applicable", shall be substituted; (D) in rule 11, after sub-rule (3) the following sub-rule shall be inserted, namely:— "(4) Notwithstanding anything contained in the foregoing rules, if sixty monthly deposits have been made in an account during its maturity period or maturity periods as extended under sub-rule (1) of rule 7 and the depositor has retained the amount in the account beyond the matjirity period, the depositor shall be entitled to a simple interest at the rate applicable 'from time to time to post'offrce savings accounts on the deposited amount from the date of maturity till the date of closure of the account." .
