(2) of section 33 of thePrasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act, 1990 (25 of 1990), and in supersession of the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) -(Akashvani News Reader-cum-Translator posts) Service Regulations, 2002, except as respects things, done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India), with tllf 'prior approval of the Central Government hereby makes the followingruJes regulating the method of recruitment to the post of News Read~~cum- Translator (Grade I), (Grade II) and (Grade III), in Akashvani, Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India), namelys-c- 1, Short title and commencement -
(l) These regulations may be called the Prasar Bharati (Broadcastirig Corporation of India), Akashvani, News Reader-cum- Translator (Grade I), (Grade II) and (Grade III) Recruitment Regulations, 2014
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Number of posts, pay band and grade payor pay scale - The number of posts, pay band and grade payor pay scale attached thereto shall be as specified in columns (2) and (3) of the Schedule annexed to these regulations,
3. Method of recruitment, age limit, qualifications, etc. - The method of recruitment, age limit, qualifications and other matters relating thereto shall be as specified in columns (4) to (11) of the aforesaid Schedule.
4.. Seniority - The inter-se seniority of News Reader-cum-Translators who are appointed under these regulations shall be in accordance with the general instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time.
'5. Disqualification - No person,-
(a) who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living; or
(b) who, having a spouse living, has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person, shall be eligible for appointment to the said posts:
Provided that the Corporation may, if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the personal law applicable to such person and the other party to the marriage, and that there are grounds for so doing, exempt any person from the operation of this regulation.
6. Power to relax - Where the Corporation is of the opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do, it may, by order, for reasons to be recorded in writing, and in consultation with the Prasar Bharati Recruitment Board and with the prior approval of the Central Government, relax any 'of the provisions of these regulations with respect to any class or category of persons.
7. Saving - Nothing in these regulations shall affect reservation, relaxation of age limit and other concessions required to be provided for persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, other Backward Classes, ex-servicemen and other special categories of persons, in accordance with the orders issued by the Government from time to time in this regard.

' I Note 1: While calculatin~ the service of the casual assignees working as News Reader-cum- Translator in the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India), a period of one hundred and twenty days service in a: calendar year shall be reckoned as one year service.
Explanation - For .the purposes of determining the extent of service rendered, engagement of an assignee for a total period of one hundred and twenty days in a calendar year as News Reader-cum- Translator on casual basis shall be taken as one year and any period less than one hundred and twenty days in a calendar year shall not qualify for relaxation of age.
Note 2: The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications from candidates in India (and not the closing date prescribed for those in Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and Kashmir state, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub- Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep. ) years I I I b) Three working News experience in papers, news agencies or news organizations .in translating the news items from English or Hindi edited scripts to the concerned languages relevant to the vacancy.

Note 1: Proficiency in the relevant language means that a' candidate must have studied in that language up to matriculation.
Note 2: Direct recruitment shall be made to any of the Indian languages specified in Eighth Schedule to the Constitution.
Note 3: The exact language requirement shall be indicated at the time of each recruitment.
Note 4: All candidates short-listed for appointment shall be required to qualify an audition test to be conducted by Prasar Bharati Recruitment Board.
